Abstract

This study was conducted in the poultry field of the Department of Animal Production - College of Agriculture - University of Diyala for the period from 1/2/2023 until 30/5/2023. To demonstrate the effect of adding Purslane seed powder and its alcoholic extract to feed and drinking water in a study of its effect on fertility and hatching characteristics using 16 Ross 308 broiler mothers at 54 weeks of age (four roosters/treatment). With four replicates (1 cock/replicate), it was divided into four treatments: the first treatment, negative control without additives, the second treatment, positive control, adding 0.250 gm vitamin E/kg feed, the third treatment, adding 10 gm of Purslane seed powder/kg feed, and the fourth treatment, adding the extract. Alcoholic content of Purslane plant grains at a concentration of 10 mL/L of drinking water. The results showed a significant increase in the fertility and hatching rates and a significant improvement in the embryonic mortality rate for the third and fourth treatments compared to the two control treatments, while no significant differences appeared in the weights of the hatched chicks between the treatments during the three hatchings.
