Abstract
This experiment was conducted at the field of Agricultural research College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul during growing season of spring 2010 and using RCBD with split plot system and there were two cultivars viz (latona, santa) and five types of mulch viz ( transparent polyethylene, black polyethylene, yellow polyethylene, red polyethylene and without mulch), The results revealed latona cultivar surpassed in most studied of the characteristics of vegetative growth and characteristics of yield, The highest value by characteristics of plant height and leaf area per plant, the length of tuber,diameter,weight and number of tubers per plant and the marketable yield was recorded under red plastic comparative with non mulching while the black plastic was recorded highest number of leaves and stems aerial per plant comparative with non mulching and yellow plastic the interaction showed Santa cultivar under the red plastic gave The highest value in height plant compared with the same cultivar under non mulching, latona cultivar under the black plastic realized The highest value in number of leaves and stems aerial per plant compared with the Santa and latona cultivars without mulch, latona cultivar under the red plastic recorded highest value in leaf area , tuber length , tuber diameter , tuber weight , number of tubers per plant and the marketable yield compared with the santa cultivar under non mulching .
